My Theory on LOST
Watched last week’s LOST episode last night, it was messed up, but really cool. I really liked the time-jumping consciousness that a few of the characters were experiencing (although I am not sure why not ALL were experiencing it).
I have been struggling to figure out what has actually been happening with the people on the island, some unified theory to explain polar bears, black smoke, an empty cabin that talks, downed plains, people aging unusually slow, etc. Well, last night I woke up at 3:45 am with a thought of what is actually happening on the island with these poeple. My theory is related to the intense amount of gravity true of black holes. The short of it, is that I think the island is, or is over a large gravitational body, like a mini black hole on earth.
Black holes have such great gravitational pull that not even light particles can escape the pull into the hole, hence it is black. I recall reading in a Brian Green book on particle physics and special relativity that at the edge of a black hole, theoretically speaking, a person would experience time at a significantly slower pace. A person takes a spaceship to the edge of a black hole, it’s event horizon, sits there for an hour or so. Upon return to earth the intense gravity has so affected the spacetime continuum that his friends on earth have aged months if not years.
So, my theory about LOST (at least some parts of it) is that the island has some sort of interplay between gravity and general relativity, electromagnetism and quantum physics. This can help explain why the hatch was nearly imploded when Desmond flipped the EMP switch. There is also a connection between those that experienced a great amount of radiation over time—the comm officer on the boat, the physicist (Faraday, ironically), and Desmond (the EMP and hatch-living for years)—and those that started jumping time-consciousness, whizzing back and forth (for Desmond, it was between 1996 and 2004).
I have more and I am not sure how much I am able to remember from 3:45 am this morning until now. I hope to post more, but I am not sure how much sense it will make! :) This is a start! My theory does not include how to respond to the black cloud, the pregnancy issues and other facts about the island.

I LOVED that episode!!
Did you know that polar bears are the most deadly land mammal? I just learned that the other day. Sorry, totally random comment!
Dude, I moved over to WordPress (I was supposed to do this a while ago…but I finally did it).
