Springtime

Not sure if that is one word or two… but I am cleaning, cleaning out, tilling, replacing, purging and resetting my world this week. I do have a little time to clean out the closet, the garage, the landscaping and more.

I love the Midwest b/c of the seasons. I like the winter, contrary to many because of the death. As we can see clearly through the woods when the leaves are shed, so we can hopefully see more clearly in the winter of our spiritual lives. The places of death, overgrowth, pests are all evident when the leaves are shed and the trees and shrubs are barren. This gives us site and opportunity to clear out the underbrush, trim back, prune, dig out, replace or move things in our lives (just like our flower beds) that just don’t belong.

Spring also is the visual, physical, and emotional reminder of new growth and opportunity. It is the reminder of life that persists even in the cold death of winter. I love it and I embrace it, even though it is sunny and a mere 34 degrees outside right now. I have seen the new growth in our beds and the buds on the trees and shrubs in my beds.
